○这首歌的创作灵感来源于阿黛尔·阿德金斯自身一段破碎的恋情，她在听说前男友结婚的消息后写下了这首歌曲。同时，阿黛尔·阿德金斯在为前男友写了许多歌曲之后，感觉自己的情感耗尽了，所以她觉得自己必须写这一首歌曲让自己觉得好受些，也作为她和前男友在一起18个月的交代。阿黛尔·阿德金斯在创作该歌曲的时候，想象着自己大约40岁的时候，再次寻找前男友，却发现他已经有了一个美丽的妻子和漂亮的孩子，且过着幸福的生活，而自己仍然独自一人。
○〈Someone Like You〉的节奏在开始时很轻柔，曲调是重复性的，阿黛尔将旋律保持在一个很窄的频率范围内，歌词深情而克制。当进入副歌部分时，阿黛尔·阿德金斯在一段长长的旋律结尾处变换了音高且上升了八度，进而产生了一种类似过山车式的紧张──释放循环，她的声音也越来越响亮，和声出现了变化，歌词也更加感人。
